Job description

• Develop new mold / pattern design concepts in 3D CAD and predict their effectiveness using computational methods and simulation software. Document and leverage learning into future designs
• Collaborate with product design engineers, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers to ensure products meet quality requirements and are completed on schedule
• Ensure that new designs meet the requirements of multiple manufacturing facilities
• Validate and adjust designs using first article inspection data
• Assist manufacturing in optimizing existing designs to improve quality and reduce cost
• Utilize and maintain standards work and processes
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement using quantitative metrics
• Maintain revision control of 3D models and alterations through PLM software
• Travel to international manufacturing sites to assist in new product launch and product optimization (<15%)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineer preferred
• Engineering experience required
• Experience in casting design with an understanding of and interest in material science and manufacturing processes (casting, machining, welding, cutting, forming) preferred
• Two+ years of experience working in a manufacturing support or machine design role preferred
• Experience collecting and making data based decisions using DMAIC or DOE preferred
• Understanding and interest in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles required
• Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project; Minitab or equivalent experience is preferred
• CAD modeling experience required; Siemens NX preferred
• Experience with solidification and fluid filling analysis (MAGMAsoft, Procast software) is preferred
• Experience in simplifying, optimizing and refining product design for manufacturability.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to manufacturing sites (international) required
