Joining the corporate world right after college was never the plan and so is being in the executive recruitment industry. If you ask me, I wanted to further study Medicine or take up Masters in Clinical Psychology from one of the many prestigious schools in the Philippines. Three years after graduating from college, I would have to say taking up Masters may still be a possibility. Before choosing to study BS in Psychology in Far Eastern University (FEU), I was encouraged to try Nursing because the opportunity to work abroad was vast. But my heart was never in Nursing even if my lifelong dream was to be a Doctor. The reason I chose Psychology was because of the broadness of the field with top possible jobs as a Guidance Counselor or as a Human Resource (HR) Consultant or as a Psychologist with a clinic. I believe that studying how the mind works and what influences human behaviour would help me understand people and why they do what they do. When I found out I would graduate a Cum Laude, I knew I made the right choice to study Psychology.
I started at PSG Global Solutions (Professional Staffing Group) way back April of 2013 as an Internet Researcher. Mixed with hard work, I was fortunate to get a promotion four times in a span of almost 3 years—from an Internet Researcher to a Senior Internal Recruiter II. Besides getting promoted, one of the memorable moments in PSG was seeing my hires become top performers in the company. When I see their names on the list I know I made the right decision in hiring them. Another valuable memory would be when we had several calibration sessions with the President either in his office or over dinner, especially when we encounter challenges; I somehow understood the business side to each responsibility as I joined the meetings. Every minute and every effort counts. At the end of the day, it’s the numbers that matter. I developed a sense of speed and efficiency when it comes to yielding results. In addition to the experience, I gained loads of friends from different backgrounds. The first job is always the most exciting and hard to get over from, despite of the good and bad experiences. I made sure that I will learn and absorb any and everything I could before I moved to the next, knowing that in the future this would benefit me.
Just three years later, I joined my second and current company which is RGF/Bo Le Associates. During my interviews with the Consultants and the Director, I felt very enthusiastic and encouraged especially when I was informed that Bo Le will transition to RGF within the year. In a way this would be an advantage to me because I will experience Bo Le Associates and some of its traditional and successful practices and eventually RGF’s modern and dynamic practices. RGF/Bo Le Associates is a company full of opportunities, learning and career development. Currently, I am a Research Associate handling searches for IT/Computer Software, Hospitality, Real Estate, Animal Health and Electronics Manufacturing industries.
Cheers to a greater journey with my friends and colleagues, Team RGF Philippines!
My ultimate goal is to be a Consultant in a specific industry that I will eventually excel in. Every day is a challenge because I speak to many people from different backgrounds. I not only source for quality profiles; I also talk to them to get to know their long term goals, their work experiences and even their compensation packages. Apart from the dream job, I also enjoy being with my colleagues and blend with their diverse personalities. I firmly believe in the cliché, “Good Things Come to Those Who Wait” and even Destiny. It was my desire for a year, to join RGF/Bo Le but I guess I was just waiting for the right time. Despite our very busy and fast paced world, there is no need to rush to know what you want. It will eventually happen if it is really for you.
